Mini-comps

Mission Statement

Inside Erin is written and published by people who enjoy AIF. It is done for fun, but we also have some goals that we seek to achieve through the newsletter:

1. To encourage the production of more quality AIF games by providing advice from game developers, and by offering constructive criticism that is specifically relevant to AIF.

2. To encourage activity and growth in the AIF community. We aim to generate a constant level of activity so that there aren’t long periods in which people can lose interest in AIF.

3. To help document and organize the AIF community. This is done through reporting on games and events, as well as by helping to organize community-wide activities such as competitions and the Erin Awards.

21 - August - 12 : Purple Dragon

For several years now I (and even A. Ninny before me) have thought about updating the Inside Erin site.  We wanted a look that more closely matched the “new” look of the newsletter itself.  I started working on it long ago, but like so many game ideas I ran out of time and patience before the project could be completed.

Now I have decided that it is high time to change all that.  When I took another look at my progress I discovered that I was actually farther along than I had thought and it only took a couple of weeks work to get it into at least a pretty good semblance of order.  The site now has a completely new design, and the look is about what I pictured when I started thinking about it lo those many years ago.

For the most part the content itself is unchanged from the old site.  I have added a few little things and plan on a few more little changes, and one big one.  The big one comes in the form of a comprehensive AIF Game List.  It will list every game ever written, be sortable by category, and include links to the game download as well as reviews and walkthroughs where available.  If that’s not enough it will also list information on the gender of the main PC and content of the game itself.  I thought about holding off the release of the website until the list was done, but working by myself that is liable to take another several years.  So instead I have included the list of games reviewed in the newsletter from my topical index for now, and included a page talking about what my plans are for the list and how some of you just might be able to help.  Please check it out.

So welcome to the new site. I’d like to offer a special thanks to Joe Slash for some design ideas and graphics work.  The old site started with some of his work and I’m pleased that that part will continue on into the new generation.  As always feedback is always welcomed and appreciated.

6 - February - 10 : Purple Dragon

Voting is now open for the 2009 Erin Awards.  Voting will be done using an online ballot on the Erin Awards website.  Although there are between three and five nominees for each category, to speed the voting up even more it is only necessary for you to list out your top three choices for each one.  Simply use the drop down menus under each category to indicate you first, second, and third choice for each.

I would really like to see this be the biggest turnout for voting yet.  It will only take a few minutes so don't put it off.  Click the link below and let your voice be heard.

Well, it looks like our Christmas Micro-comp was less than a rousing success.  The only people to submit games were A. Bomire and myself.  Since it doesn't make a lot of sense to go though the whole voting thing with only two games we've decided to skip that part, but you can still download the games here.  Just consider it a Christmas present from us to the community.  We hope you like them.

The file is titled "2009 Christmas games" and can be downloaded here, as well as on the AIFArchive, and aifgames.com in the file sections.
